The carbon family is in periods 2-6 and in group 14.
The elements in the Carbon Family are the following: Carbon, Silicon, Germanium, Tin, and Lead.
3 Interesting Facts about The Carbon Family:
1) Lead is poisonous, but carbon is essential to life.
2) The Carbon Family can form up to 4 bonds.
3) Germanium expands when frozen.

3 Physical Properties of The Carbon Family:


1) Has a boiling point of 8721 F
2) Melting point of 6332 f
3) It is combustible, and is in a solid state at room temperature.

3 Chemical Properties of The Carbon Family:

1) Carbon reacts with Oxygen to make CO2.
2)
When Oxygen touches Lead, it tarnishes.
3) Poor heat conductors.


2 Common Uses for the Carbon Family:

1) Silicon is used in computer chips.
2) Lead is used in plumbing.
